South Carolina and Illegal
Immigration 11/14/07
Lone Protester- Terry Funderburk
I have been wanting to write an article on the problems of illegal
immigration in my home state for a long time now. This state is a sanctuary
zone for both illegal aliens and the employers that hire them and the
landlords that allow them to fill single family homes to overflowing in
contravention to our laws. Our home and commercial construction industry is
flooded with illegals and their criminal employers and nothing is ever done
to correct the problem. In fact our politicians and law enforcement
professional here practice the art of killing the messenger instead of
alleviating the problem by simply enforcing our laws. They would much prefer
to sweep the problem and it’s effects under a very huge carpet that is
beginning to rival Pike’s Peak in size.
If you ask our senior Senator (Graham) how big is the problem, he will more
than likely respond with something like South Carolina does not have a
problem with illegal immigration. And in fact, if you press Senator Graham
on the subject of illegal aliens here, you will more than likely be slammed
by him as being a racist and a bigot. If you ask Sheriff Metts of Lexington
County about it he will inform you that most Hispanics in the Columbia area
are here legally. And forget about getting him and other agencies to try to
stem the problem, to my knowledge no cops in this state are trained in the
287g program. Not that it would do any good if they were. I will give you an
example of how lax our mayor, the police department and sheriff’s office are
when it comes to enforcing the laws that deal with criminal illegal aliens
and their employers.
In the June 27th issue of the State newspaper, Jo Dell Pickens of Columbia,
who is a roofing contractor is quoted as saying, “I employ 22 illegal
aliens, they are a fact of life in the roofing industry here in Columbia”.
Has she been arrested for her crime? That has been 6 months ago and she has
yet to be arrested and tried. No, she gets a free pass from her enablers,
which are Mayor Bob Coble of Columbia, his police chief and the sheriff of
Richland County, Leon Lott. These characters are like the three dumb
monkeys, you know the ones that I am talking about, now what is it that they
say? Oh yes, hear no evil, see no evil and speak no evil. That description
fits them to a tee.
And our state is rife with law and justice officials refusing to enforce
those same laws. Judge Bruce Horne of Saluda County is quoted as saying that
90 to 95% of all Hispanics he sees freely admits that they are illegal
aliens. That county’s population is currently 40% illegal Hispanic, thanks
to the Amick family and their enablers in the law enforcement and justice
community there. Saluda County also has a huge tuberculosis problem with the
Hispanics. It is estimated that three out of five of them are infected with
tb. But to our leaders, it is simply one more problem that is being swept
under the carpet by the ones that hear, see and speak no evil. Think not?
The county sheriff admits that a town cop used his badge to transport
illegals direct from Mexico to the town. And workers at the local poultry
plants freely admit to using fake documents and social security numbers to
gain work.
In Greenville, SC in May, an elderly couple was beat to death by an illegal
alien. He even burnt the house down to cover up the evidence of what he did.
In Newberry County just yesterday, an illegal alien was busted with 27
pounds of marijuana. A Hispanic store owner and his family was arrested over
the weekend for selling pirated dvd’s and prescription drugs without a
license. Crimes like these are rampant in this state and the people are
getting fed up. Every day I go out looking for work and almost every jobsite
I go to, illegal Hispanics are hard at work making all kinds of money and
there are the contractors and subcontractors, smiling, while they put all
the law abiding small businessmen out of work. Forget about crying or
complaining to our tax paid politicians and police departments because they
don’t have time to hear about your problems and if you attempt to do
something about it, like stage a protest for example, well, the entire
states law enforcement
and justice system will come down on you like a ton of bricks. Take my case
for example, I protest a job I lost to illegal competition and I get jailed
for saying a curseword and get threatened with sixty days in jail if I don’t
plead guilty.
So, in South Carolina, our justice system has become perverted, the rule of
law doesn’t matter anymore. It is all about the almighty dollar, and see no
evil politicians that like to pretend we have no major problems with
illegals. And the reason they are like that is because their campaign funds
are constantly replenished by the crooked employers that are making all the
money. My state has an unofficial estimate of 500 thousand illegal aliens,
there are 30 thousand of their kids in our schools degrading them even
further. And the only thing our politicians can do about the problem is to
pretend that there isn’t one.
Yesterday, I took my wife and daughter to Charleston for an interview. Why,
do you ask? It was their final interview at INS. To get their green cards
(the legal kind) and to put them on the path to getting their American
citizenship. The interviewer swore us to tell the truth, and nothing but the
truth. He asked detailed questions, such as did my wife lie on any
documentation that she filled out? Had she ever aided and abetted any
illegal alien to come to America? If she had ever worked here illegally when
she first arrived? So many questions and they made me wonder, where in the
hell is our law enforcement agencies? Why aren’t they doing the job they
swore to when they took office, why do we have hundreds of thousands of
illegals and thousands of crooks employing them running around loose, and
pretending that they are fine upstanding American citizens? When the only
thing they are is simply crooks.
I have a dream, a dream that on election day in 2008 that these worthless
excuses for politicians will be tarred and feathered and run out of South
Carolina on rails, because that is exactly what they deserve and nothing
less. I dream of that useless senator of mine, Lindsey Graham, out of a job.
and coming to see me about hiring him. About giving him a job. I think I
might. He will be walking around the jobsites with a sign hung around his
neck that says “I am sorry that I called the fine upstanding citizens of
South Carolina racists and bigots”.
