Are The Advocates of Illegal Aliens Inciting Violence?

By Douglas Roy

An appalling state of affairs lingers in Suffolk County, New York, the site of a recent gang killing where a Mexican man was killed by teens. The story in the Associated Press (http://ap.google.com/article/ALeqM5iF4GJzkZAIbhbbVq7PMx-pVH8XMAD94CD0NO0 )
seems to focus on the discrimination and tension of local residents that has heightened after a crackdown on illegal aliens by authorities.

What is not mentioned in the article, and perhaps not so apparent to local residents is that years of blatant disregard for enforcing immigration laws has brought about a state where hundreds of thousands of illegal aliens have been welcomed into the community by local authorities. These same folks have taken many jobs from Americans, while also taking a great amount of public funds for food stamps for their anchor babies and free hospital care for the prenatal care and births of their children. And let’s not forget the mounting property tax to pay for the increased education costs of these tens of thousands of children. And did I forget to mention the sub prime mortgages that many illegal aliens obtained and some defaulted on, helping create the current financial crisis?

All the time illegal aliens are in violation of federal law; many duty shirking members of local and federal government are coddling them and aiding them. Their advocates are demanding “acceptance” and kindness for their lawbreaking buddies, while condemning any sort of indignation over their continued abuse of our system, theft of taxpayer funds, and presumption of citizen privileges. Perhaps I need to put on my rose colored sunglasses so I can see the situation like the supporters of these hardworking, good illegals who found the work of going through the proper channels to become a legal resident of the United States far too difficult.  Is it possible that a failure of officials to uphold the laws of the land while aiding and abetting illegal residents has brought about this backlash?

As a hockey player, I have seen and felt the indignation when an opposing player gets away with a penalty against me or a teammate because the referee was either not looking, or just not doing his job of enforcing the rules of the game. The need to set things straight and repay the offender is great.  Many times those games with poor refereeing get out of hand and the violence escalates between teams. I believe we are seeing the same thing in society when public officials and law enforcement fail to do their duty, enforcing the laws of our nation against illegal behavior committed by foreigners illegally within our country. It is not a race or ethnic thing, but a law thing, a right and wrong thing. The sense of justice is being offended in the citizens of the United States, especially in the heart of districts where the offenses occur most often. What is truly appalling and shocking, however, is that in the case of illegal aliens, some of the “refs” have been paid off and are working for the other side against our citizens! The reaction of such injustice incites greater violence than just a 30 second hockey fight. As the rules begin to be enforced for all, such violence will lessen and peace will return, but continued advocacy for illegal behavior will always beget the bad fruit of violence.
